Max
31st October 1994 - 24th October 1995
Although you never even saw your first birthday, Max you were very special and we often think about you. You were the last pup left when we went to collect your sister and I was smitten by the way you went to slept with my finger in your mouth. We came home with two pups! I have to admit that at first I felt that I could see why nobody had chosen you, not that you were not lovable, more that you were your sisters shadow. We could not image how you would have managed as a solo dog. When you did start to become your 'own dog' what a change, you matured into the gentlest dog I have ever known, you were a sociable dog going to training classes with your dad, enjoying the practising between lessons, totally unlike your sister. When one day you unexpectedly met your brother, you were delighted and recognised him as someone special all at once. It was very touching.
We blame ourselves for your tragic death, I was having to work full time for a week and we felt you would be 'safer' in kennels each day. On the second afternoon the call came, they had lost you. The half hour drive home was one of those endless journeys, so sure you'd hear a familiar voice and come, so anxious you wouldn't. When we got to the kennels it was all over anyway. They had found you, killed by a train. We will never know what really happened to you Max, but then sadly it wouldn't bring you back even if we did.
In memory of Max, beloved companion of Sandra Rigby and Family.
