JAC
Jac was a pup when his first family bought him. He was never a confident alpha
dog, preferring to hang out with the females in his family. His life took its
sad twist when the daughter in his family, with whom he had formed the closest
bond, tragically died. The mother had developed Emphysema and wasn’t able to
take proper care of this young, energetic dog. The devastating circumstances of
his family made it better for Jac to be rehomed whilst he was still young and
thus adaptable enough to have the possibility of a happy future. Jac’s owner wanted to find a sympathetic rescue organisation
for him. She had heard about Chaz and came along to watch him at work prior to
deciding to introduce herself and her problem with Jac. Jac came under our care and despite not having had any formal
training in the past, his main problems were really just due to his timidity. He
appeared to be a very placid and promising dog. During the rehabilitation and
training period, MBF’s rescue dogs are also assessed for the type of home they
will eventually need. Jac required a very empathetic and patient placement.
Finding the right home might have taken a bit of time, had the perfect family
not approached Chaz. Sharon and Hugh wanted to offer a home to a rescued dog,
ideally a pet to fill the heart of their family, and Jac would be a perfect
match. Ideal homes often present themselves just as the right dog is
ready to fill the place on offer. Hugh has been a friend of Chaz and Kim for
over 20 years, and when it came to rehoming Jac it was clear that Hugh had both
the experience and more importantly the empathy and ability to bring out the
best in Jac to ensure their happy future. Jac’s life has turned full circle, he has got a wonderful
home with a wonderful family, a happy ending for a special rescue dog.
Jac a 3 year old black GSD had suffered a
bewildering period prior to MBF being chosen as the best organisation to rehomed
this very special dog. Most of us expect a rescue dogs circumstances to involve
wilful mistreatment or neglect, but that isn’t always the case. Sometimes
circumstances make it necessary for a dog’s longer-term security to find a new,
more suitable home for him. The upheaval may be just as sad and unsettling for
the dog in the short term, but long-term benefits soon outweigh this. So many of
MBF’s rehomed rescue dogs have confirmed this, Jac’s story is another.
