CHRISTMAS
CELEBRATIONS
2004

What a great day! We
had over 40 people turn up I lost count of how many dogs were there,
but the day
was dry, not too cold, (We have had worse days!) and although it was
overcast it
was just about right. Irene did a fantastic job with the refreshments and
Graham
did his David Bailey bit with his posh camera.

We started off with the Fancy dress, which was a difficult one for Chaz, you
could see that lots of effort had been made, but after long deliberation and
taking into consideration the late comers, or was it me starting it off slightly
early! There were more than 20 entrants in total, and the winners were in 1st
Place Irene with Eddie (Santa suit with presents in his sack!) & Buddy
(Reindeer), 2nd Place was Amy & Buster (and his jingly Santa
coat!) and in 3rd Place was Rachael & Scooby.

Once all the canine contestants (all except Oska & Zak!) had undressed we went onto the Musical Mats, thankfully Chaz opted out of this game, and it’s the one he likes to cheat at! There were 23 dogs and owners taking part, we only had 8 mats so we had to split them up and then do run off’s. The winners were in 1st place Carol & Carly, and in 2nd Place was John & Jodie.

Our next Game was the Tangerine Race (just like the egg & spoon race but with tangerines!) Definitely safer using tangerines, than using eggs, with dogs about. Eh Sam! We had 18 Dogs and owners in this race, and the results are, in 1st Place was Bob & Toffee, in 2nd Place was Rachael & Scooby, and finally in 3rd Place was Pat & Nessie. I have to say there was a lot less cheating than last year.

Finally we had timed agility for everyone! There were quite a few dogs and owners from other MBF training classes that had never done agility before, and they all got stuck in and had a go. I ended up with 20 entrants, so I made 5 teams of 4 dogs & owners, of mixed abilities to make it fair and they had to do a ‘relay race’ over small jumps, weave poles and a tyre, and everyone did really well. The results are in 1st place was with a total of 1m 30s was Phil & Hattie, Nicola & Penny, Sophie & Spike and Dan & Billy. In 2nd Place was Pat & Nessie, Sue & Billy, Julie & Rufus and Brian & Eddie, and finally in 3rd Place was Emma & Harry, Sue & Badger, Rachael & Scooby and Amy & Buster.

We all retired to the port-a-cabin for something to eat and drink (Graham’s mulled wine went down well!) there was a huge spread of food, thanks to everyone for bringing something to eat with them, we even had baked potatoes! (Many thanks to Amy’s mum for those) Once we all had our fill, and I had sorted out the results, we had the prize giving, well we were all ready and waiting for Chaz, who finally came to do it, but he got to the food at the last minute, and was delayed! Bless him.

It was the best Christmas
Celebration party we have had to date at Whisby Garden Centre,
there was a huge
turn out, and I would like to personally thank everyone who turned up,
for
making it a really great day.
