CHRISTMAS
CELEBRATIONS
2002

Graham, Irene and I turned up at Whisby Garden Centre at 9.30am,
and true to form the weather was awful, raining and very dull.  Unperturbed we decided that
the day had to go on.  We checked out the field, which was very wet, to say the least,
but we continued to set up for the celebrations, and the rain stopped at 10.30am!

Everyone turned up with his or her dogs, some with children at 11am, and we all decided that we
were all going to enjoy ourselves whatever the weather, or the state of the ground!

We started off with Chaz judging the ‘doggy’ fancy dress competition.   We had six entries, and the winners, in reverse order were in 3rd Place - Pat Goucher with Izzy, 2nd Place - Emma with Tango (who came all the way from Derbyshire!), and in 1st Place with a fantastic outfit was Graham with Eddie…

The sweetheart of the day was definitely Dizzy who came dressed as an Angel.

We then started to play some ‘doggy’ games, to keep everyone warm…. The first of which was ‘Musical Mats’ and as much as Chaz tried to cheat by carrying the odd mat with him, he eventually lost to great contenders, Irene and Eddie.

The MBF ‘Pairs’ Tangerine race (Formerly known as the egg and spoon race!),
was won by Pat and Kane and Teresa and Sadie with a fantastic time of 12.5 seconds…

The ‘Pairs’ jumping was won by Emma with Tango, and Dave with Maya, with a brilliant time of 16 seconds,
not bad as running was not allowed, due to the wet ground, and our Wellingtons filling up with water!  Only kidding!

And finally MBF’s version of Welly Wanging – Poop bag throwing!!

Now this game had a twist the competitors had to throw a poop bag, and then stand where the bag landed and the nearest to the pole was the winner.  The last ‘thrower’ was the mighty Judy, with Thomas, now Judy was the only person that actually hit the pole, nearly taking Chaz’s nose with it!!  Well done...

We all cleared away and retired to the porta-cabin for drinks (great mulled wine Graham!) and munchies, and of course the prize giving.  I think that the day was a resounding success; everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the dogs (everyone got a prize).

A very special thanks to everyone for turning up and taking part,
even though the weather was not that good.

We Look Forward To Seeing You All At The Next Man's Best Friend
Xmas Party in December 2003.
