Bess
9th January 1986 - 30th March 1998
Bess a German Shepherd bitch came to us at the age of seven
months, we were lucky enough to have twelve years with this beautiful dog.
Bess epitomizes the work that Man's Best Friend strives to carry out. For Bess herself was a rescue dog. Although only seven months old, her territorial aggression was highly developed and this was a cause for great concern for her original family an elderly couple who were unable to cope when Bess decided they needed protection from just about everyone and anything that ventured too near. It was for this reason that we took her under our wing with the intention of sorting out her problems and finding her a permanent home .
Needless to say things did not go according to plan and Bess remained with us for the rest of her life.
The fierce behaviour that Bess displayed in her early days was easily surpassed by her fierce loyalty to her family, she became not only a family member, but also the closest of working companions. When properly channelled her great drive and energy became the hallmark of one of the most willing and spectacular working companions I have ever had the pleasure to know.
Bess soon became a friend to all, sociable and affectionate, she is missed by many. The day that she left us was the day of my birthday. It has been said to me that the memory of this would cast a shadow over future birthdays, but on the contrary, Bess shared her days with us, which will always be remembered with love and gratitude. Each birthday will be a day of fond remembrances never of sadness. She will always be missed and always loved.
In memory of Bess, beloved companion of Chaz Worrall and Family.
